PIMFA's Commitment
PIMFA has been a proud signatory of HM Treasury's Women in Finance Charter since November 2017.
Our targets were reviewed and agreed by the PIMFA Board in September 2025.
Aim to maintain 40% women in senior management roles by 2028
Aim to have 35% female representation on our Board and committees, working groups and initiatives by 2028, working with our membership to identify relevant individuals
Aim to have 45% female representation speaking at our conferences, committees and groups depending on the subject
Ensure the recruitment and retention processes are evenly balanced and messages appeal to all regardless of gender
Ensure access to learning is evenly balanced regardless of gender
Ensure a flexible working and inclusive culture is maintained for all
Act as an advocate for inclusion across the sector
Review these statements for currency and relevance on an annual basis and redraft if appropriate
Our current progress as at 1st September 2026 against the targets
Maintaining our current 60% female representation in senior management
31% female representation at the Board
53.5% representation on committees and working groups; of the 10 groups that have an industry chair, 20% are female
42.7% female speakers at events and learning, not including the women’s symposium, which is predominantly female
(96 speakers in May 2026)
Women's Symposium
Undertaking our third Women’s Symposium in May 26 enables us to act as an advocate for inclusion across the sector as well as influence positive culture and learning. Comprising keynote speeches including from Nicky Morgan, Baroness Cotes, Julia Hoggett, LSE, Jessica Rusu from FCA, and Dr Ros Rivaz, round tables, workshop style sessions on a variety of relevant business and personal development topics, this flagship event features in our calendar for 2027.
There were 600 attendees and 96 speakers across two days, with our aim to extend further in the event next year (2027).
Culture and Inclusion Committee
The committee has spent a considerable amount of time this year working with a legal associate on guidelines for employers on non-financial misconduct, following the FCA publishing their rules for the sector. These were launched in May 26 with support from Professional Institutes in our sector. The guidance features case studies and practical guidance for our sector.
The committee has also considered the impact of AI on entry-level jobs and the AI skills matrix produced by the FSSC.
