Environmental, social and governance (ESG) is going through a breakthrough moment, with the EU Action Plan on Sustainable Finance and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) adding force to the growing tide of green investor sentiment.
Ready to service this demand, European issuers have launched record numbers of core and thematic ESG ETFs so far in 2021. Investors themselves have also not disappointed, pouring €53.4bn assets into the product class during the first eight months of the year – almost half of all inflows – according to data from Bloomberg Intelligence.
This explosive growth has also raised a number of challenges, however, with IOSCO highlighting a lack of standardisation in ESG ratings and data collection, while InfluenceMap found 71% of ESG funds ranked negatively for Paris-alignment.
This event will look at some of the key issues investors face while navigating the ESG landscape, including:
ESG as a factor
The rise of ESG fixed income
The effectiveness of climate ETFs
Developments in regulation
How to incorporate ESG ETFs into a multi-asset portfolio.
